How to have an all-fun (no-fuss) baking day

How to have an all-fun (no-fuss) baking day

At The Table

Here’s one holiday tradition that doesn’t need to be an ordeal.

Holiday baking can conjure up images of rows and rows of cookies, complicated recipes and flour everywhere...no, really, everywhere. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Grab your apron and crank up the holiday jams because it’s time to make some easy, festive treats.

1.
Start with the essential equipment

Real talk: the right baking tools are key to an easy baking day (and not burning your gingerbread people). Enter our all-new line of PC® Silicone Baking Gadgets (with easy grip handles so you can power through your marathon baking session without achy hands). Practical, affordable and cute, they’ll make you a better baker and brighten up your utensil drawer, too.

The  has large, wide stainless-steel loops, meaning it can take on both dry and wet ingredients without caving under the pressure. The  has a flexible head that scrapes the inside of batter bowls, and is also great for mixing, folding, spreading and stirring. The real game-changer? The . It helps you create uniform-sized cookies (this means they’ll all bake evenly) with just a squeeze of the handle – you don’t even have to get your hands dirty!

2.
Embrace shortcuts

Not everyone is a baker, but you can still have a fun-filled baking day. With our , we’ve done most of the work for you. This easy-to-use mix lets you make spiced gingerbread cookies without having to buy all the dry ingredients.

You can decorate these, but *only* if you want to – or if you’re looking for an activity for the kids. Use store-bought icing that comes in squeezable tubes to make outlines, shapes and patterns on the cookies. Then decorate with sprinkles, candy-coated chocolate, gummies and crushed candy canes.

Not a gingerbread family? The  is another classic holiday cookie. And there are so many ways to hack it: turn them into sandwich cookies and spoon jam, lemon curd,  or plain icing between them. For a chocolatey touch, you can drizzle the shortbread with melted chocolate chips or dip one half of each cookie into the chocolate and then sprinkle with crushed candy canes.

3.
Try no-bake options

Not every holiday recipe requires an oven and we are here for it. Try making this stovetop snacking mix:

Combine one cup of sugar with half a cup each of butter and corn syrup in a pan over medium heat and stir until the butter has completely melted. Let boil for a few minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add a pinch of salt and some vanilla extract. Pour over a mixture of crispy cereal, mini pretzels, salted peanuts and popcorn — about eight cups in total — that’s been placed in a large, greased bowl, and toss with your fancy new spatula until the mixture is all coated. Spread it on a cookie sheet covered in parchment paper and let it cool for a few minutes before adding a few generous handfuls of . These will add festive holiday colour, and some chocolatey goodness. They’re made from solid milk chocolate and have a crisp candy shell – adding just the right texture to your sweet-and-salty snacking mix.

This one is a great gift for neighbours, co-workers and friends. Place some of the mix in a wide-mouth glass jar and tie a ribbon around the top. Holiday baking complete—and there was no flour in sight.
