Just as you might match a certain wine or a cocktail to a dish, coffee pairs incredibly well with food. The trick is starting with great coffee. PC® Coffees, with all their glorious roasts and varieties, present endless possibilities. Before we begin matching, you should know that we source the best beans from around the world and we roast them in Canada. And all our coffees are kept tasting fresh with our award-winning, recyclable packaging*.
4 PC® Coffee and food pairings you have to try
A great cup of PC® Coffee stands on its own, but something special happens when you drink it with just the right dish.
Read on for our favourite pairs.
Now that you’ve cracked the freshness seal, how do you pair coffee to food? There are generally three factors to consider as you sip, according to chef Camille Arcese: the acidity of the coffee, how dark the roast is and how light or heavy it feels when you drink it. You want to pair your cup to food that accentuates its flavours and body—and the right coffee can repay the favour to your food. With that in mind, let’s pair some of our most popular PC® Coffees to dishes that do the most for these brews.
The pairing: A full-bodied coffee with heady aroma and rich, dark cocoa flavour cries out for a savoury dish that’s just as rich and bold. Enter chili-spiced steak and eggs—buttery, earthy and with a hint of heat, it’s an unexpectedly cool brunch combo. Chef’s tip: add a pinch or two of finely ground coffee to your steak spice for extra kick.
The pairing: A balanced cup with notes of stone fruit and honey, this coffee walks the line between sweet and savoury. We like it paired with whipped ricotta toast, topped with peaches and figs and drizzled with honey. This delicious coffee’s flavours really come through alongside this crunchy, creamy, fresh snack.
The pairing: Rich, creamy espresso meets its match in something equally rich, creamy and cool. Pour an intense, steamy shot over a few scoops of PC® Cream FirstTM Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and you’ll be awed by the incredible contrast of textures and temperatures. Name an easier, more elegant dessert. We’ll wait.
