It’s back-to-school time again! As you begin buying the kids school supplies and preparing them for their return to school, you may also want to consider what to pack for their lunches and snacks.
Many schools have policies in place that restrict students from bringing certain food items to school. These foods may include peanuts and other nuts, such as pecans, walnuts and cashew nuts.
If children that are allergic to these foods are exposed to even the tiniest amount, they can develop an allergic reaction with symptoms that can be very dangerous, such as anaphylaxis. It’s very important that you follow the school’s policy on food allergens for everyone’s safety. Read the ingredient list of food products to make sure the restricted food is not present.
