President's Choice® Children's Charity is the National Premiere Sponsor for Breakfast for Learning (BFL). Our grant to BFL:
- supported 4,000 programs across Canada for the 2011/2012 school year
- provided 2,700 programs with direct child nutrition grant funding
- supported 1,300 programs through educational materials, access to Breakfast for Learning's team of registered dietitians and nutritionists, equipment funding, assistance with the recruitment of volunteers and access to the Keys to Success award winning best practices program
- In Newfoundland and Labrador, Breakfast for Learning works in partnership with Kids Eat Smart Foundation and in Quebec, Breakfast for Learning provides funding to Club des petits déjeuners, in addition to providing direct program funding in this province

We also help remove obstacles that make everyday life extremely difficult for children with disabilities and their families. In 2011 we provided direct financial assistance for:
- 230 wheelchair accessible vans
- 78 children to attend specialized camp
- 797 children with developmental or physical therapy
- 292 children to get specialized equipment (wheelchairs, lifts, ceiling tracks, elevators…etc.)
- 62 children to receive home accessibility modifications
- 101 children to receive respite care
Who applies for assistance?
President's Choice® Children's Charity receives applications from families whose children have been diagnosed with a broad range of disabilities including cerebral palsy, autism, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida and various developmental delays. The average age of the children we help is 8 years old.
To be considered a candidate for assistance, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Child (18 and under) with a diagnosed physical or developmental disability
- Household income $70,000 or less
- Require help with mobility equipment, accessibility modification or therapy
Direct financial support for families
President's Choice® Children's Charity provides grants to families to assist with the costs of equipment, home accessibility, respite care, developmental and physical therapy and accessible vehicles. Nisha, for example, is one of our grateful beneficiaries. The charity provided financial support to buy a wheelchair accessible van and now Nisha can travel comfortably to her appointments and family outings in a vehicle that is specially suited to her needs.

Breakfast for Learning Grant
- In 2010, President's Choice® Children's Charity announced a donation of
$2.6 million to Breakfast for Learning to help fund breakfast programs across Canada
- The funds will go to help children and youth receive nutritious breakfasts, lunches and snacks
- Studies show that children who maintain a well-balanced, nutritious diet have improved memory, problem-solving skills and creative abilities – overall, they perform better in school
- In Newfoundland and Labrador, Breakfast for Learning works in partnership with Kids Eat Smart Foundation and in Quebec, Breakfast for Learning provides funding to Club des petits déjeuners, in addition to providing direct program funding in this province
Boys & Girls Clubs of Canada Grant
- In 2011, President’s Choice® Children’s Charity partnered with Boys & Girls Clubs of Canada to create the PCCC Basic Needs Brighter Future Program through a grant of $145,900
- Over the last decade, Boys & Girls Clubs of Canada has noticed an increase in the need to provide more food and food related programs of all kinds: breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and cooking and nutrition programs. Children and youth simply are not getting access to the resources they require to grow into healthy adults.
- With the support of President’s Choice® Children’s Charity, Boys & Girls Clubs of Canada will provide the necessary programs, resources, training, and where possible, funds to enable Clubs to:
- Feed more young people and their families
- Promote the importance of nutritious food
- Provide a resource for Clubs and their members
